APB: Interactive Participation in Real-Life Detection

13 January 2000 No Comment

For the launch of the “CrimesSolvers” channel, we developed the first in a series of interactive “Unsolved” features, engaging site visitors in the crime-solving process.

APBnews.com Unsolved feature

We posted actual evidence files from an unsolved case:

  • Autopsy files
  • Case notes
  • Crime scene photos

The investigating officer and FBI profiler John Douglas discussed their theories of the case with visitors in message boards and live chats.

The feature was a finalist for the 1999 Scripps Howard Foundation’s National Journalism Award for Web Reporting.
